Zieritz, Grete von


Zieritz, Grete von, b. Vienna, March 10, 1899, composer and music educator. Completed her studies of piano and composition at the Graz Conservatory at the age of 18, then studied with F. Schreker in Berlin, where she has lived since. Her works are characterised by social commitment and the expressive use of tonal colour.


Works: Zehn Japanische Lieder, 1921; Passion im Urwald, 1931; Zigeunerkonzert, 1982; Kassandra-Rufe, 1986.
