WaasenWaasen, Burgenland and Hungary, former marshland and moorland covering an area of 1,800 ha (today partly wet meadows) in the south-east of Lake Neusiedl; the main village in the Austrian part of the Waasen is Pamhagen. The largest part of the Waasen (Hungarian: Hanság) lies on Hungarian territory and is a conservation area (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve). The Waasen is traversed and drained by the Einser-Kanal and other canals.
