Mössmer, JosephMössmer, Joseph, b. Vienna, March 20, 1780, d. Vienna, June 22, 1845, landscape painter, etcher and lithographer. Son of a copper engraver and father of the landscape painters Eduard and Raimund M. Studied under F. A. Brand at the Vienna Academy, also strongly influenced by M. von Molitor; 1815 taught at the Vienna Academy, teacher of artists such as F. Gauermann. Undertook educational trips with his students to the foothills of the Alps.
