Frisch, Otto Robert


Frisch, Otto Robert, b. Vienna, Oct. 1, 1904, d. Cambridge (United Kingdom), Sept. 22, 1979, nuclear physicist, nephew of Lise Meitner. Together with Lise Meitner introduced the expression "nuclear fission". Participated in developing the atomic bomb in the USA and was professor in Cambridge from 1947.


Works: Meet the Atom, 1947; Atomic Physics Today, 1961; Working with Atoms, 1965; Profession in Nuclear Physics, 1950-1965 (ed.), What Little I Remember, 1979 (autobiography).
