Frischauer, Paul, b. Vienna, May 25, 1898, d. Vienna, May 7, 1977, narrative writer, historian (cultural history), journalist. Emigrated to England in 1934, later to Brazil and to the USA, and returned to Vienna in 1955. Was an exponent of the biographical novel.


Works: Dürer, 1925; Prinz Eugen, 1933; Garibaldi, 1934; Beaumarchais, 1935; Die Habsburger. Geschichte einer Familie, 1961; Es steht geschrieben. Die großen Dokumente, 1967; Knaurs Sittengeschichte der Welt, 3 vols., 1968; Finale in Wien, 1978.
