Waluliso eigentlich Ludwig Weinberger© Copyright Waluliso in his typical attire at the Stephansplatz square in Vienna. Photo, 1985. Waluliso (real name: Ludwig Weinberger), b. Vienna, July 2, 1914, d. Vienna, July 21, 1996. A Viennese "character". In the 1970s he collected tens of thousands of signatures on the construction site of the Danube island Donauinsel, under the motto "water-air-light-sun" (his name was an abbreviation of this in German: Wasser-Luft-Licht-Sonne) for the maintenance and use of this area as a recreational park, an enterprise that proved very successful. In the 1980s he appeared in the city centre in a white toga as a self-acclaimed peace apostle.
