Tschermak-Seysenegg, Erich, b. Vienna, Nov. 15, 1871, d. Vienna, Oct. 11, 1962, botanist, geneticist, researcher, son of Gustav Tschermak-Seysenegg, brother of Armin Tschermak-Seysenegg. From 1909 professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Vienna, where he founded the Chair of Plant Breeding. Founded a station for plant breeding in Groß-Enzersdorf. Rediscovered the genetic rules of G. Mendel.


Works: Über künstl. Kreuzung, 1900; Die Theorie der Kryptomerie und des Kryptohybridismus, 1903; Samenbildung ohne Befruchtung, 1949.
