Trivium Trofaiach

Trixener Schlösser

Trixen Castle Ruins: three ruins in Carinthia situated in the Trixen Valley in the municipality of Völkermarkt. Very close to these ruins are three palace-like buildings: Obertrixen, a rectangular building (16th  century, greatly altered in later periods), with a chapel (17th  century); Mittertrixen, a large building around an arcaded courtyard with a late Gothic core (1769/1770), coffered ceiling (16th  century) and remains of late Baroque stuccowork; Niedertrixen has been called Tachenstein since 1571, today it is a hunting lodge and farmhouse.

Literature: H. Wiessner, Burgen und Schlösser um Klagenfurt, Feldkirchen, Völkermarkt, 1965.
