Prantl, Karl, b. Pöttsching (Burgenland), Nov. 5, 1923, sculptor. Trained as a painter; self-taught as a sculptor, P. used abstract forms in his work ("Meditationssteine") as early as 1950. 1959 founded the international sculptors' symposium Bildhauersymposion in the quarry at St. Margarethen, Burgenland. Austrian representative at the 1986 Biennale in Venice.
