Migerka, Helene


Migerka, Helene, b.  Brünn (now Brno, Czech Republic), Sept. 13, 1867, d. Graz, Styria, March 26, 1928 (suicide), writer, daughter of the writer Katharina Migerka (1844-1922). Played a leading role in the women's movement in Vienna, wrote poems, sketches, satires and humorous pieces, often highly critical of social conditions.


Works: Gedichte (Poems), 1889; Neue Gedichte (New Poems), 1895; Das Glück der Häßlichen und andere Skizzen und Satiren, 1913; Der neue Besen, 1920.
