ManhartsbergManhartsberg Hill, Lower Austria, low ridge with gentle slopes; constitutes the southern part of a granite plateau stretching between the River Thaya and the Wagram region (fertile stretch of land north of the River Danube); parts of the plateau even date from the Tertiary; Manhartsberg Hill marks the eastern boundary of the Bohemian Massif (extending over southern Bohemia, western Moravia and northern Austria) and the Weinviertel (one of Lower Austria´s four main regions); the hill gave its name to the regions situated to the west ("Region below Manhartsberg Hill" or Weinviertel) and the east ("Region above Manhartsberg Hill" or Waldviertel). Manhartsberg Hill is mainly wooded with its highest point reaching 537m.
