Vienna, March 20, 1919, mining expert, entrepreneur; son of Leopold Kupelwieser, brother of Karl Kupelwieser. Successful head of the iron and steel works in Ternitz (Lower Austria), Teplice (then Teplitz) and 1876-1893 in Vizovice (both in Bohemia). Bought the Island of Brioni (Croatia) in 1893 and made it into recreation area, Marshal Tito later resided there. Literature: NDB.
