Kaus, Gina (real name: G. Zirner-Kranz, pseudonym: Andreas Eckbrecht), b. Vienna, Nov. 21, 1894, d. Los Angeles (USA), Dec. 23, 1985, writer and scriptwriter. Wrote successful light novels until she emigrated in 1939. Friendship with K. Kraus, H. Broch, V. Baum and others.


Works: novels: Die Überfahrt, 1932; Die Schwestern Kleh, 1933; Katharina die Große, 1935; Luxusdampfer, 1937; Der Teufel nebenan, 1940 (1956 film adaptation under the title "Teufel in Seide"). - Comedies: Der lächerliche Dritte, 1926; Whisky und Soda, 1937. - Autobiography: Und was für ein Leben, 1979 (re-edition under the title "Von Wien nach Hollywood", ed. and with an epilogue by S. Mulot-Déri, 1992).
