Kalnocky von Köröspatak, Gustav Sigmund, Count, b. Letovice, Czech Republic (then Lettowitz), Dec. 29, 1832, d. Brodek u Prostějova, Czech Republic (then Prödlitz), Feb. 13, 1898, statesman and diplomat. 1874 envoy to Copenhagen, 1880 ambassador to St. Petersburg, 1881-1895 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dual Monarchy. Leading part in the conclusion of the Triple Alliance . Mediated between the Balkan states and Central Europe (Bulgarian crisis, "Battenberg affair" 1885-1887).
