Heine-Geldern, Baron Robert, b. Grub (Lower Austria), July 16, 1885, d. Vienna, May 25, 1968, ethnologist and archaeologist. Carried out ethnological and archaeological research in Oceania, America and especially in South-East-Asia. Taught in Vienna, emigrated to the USA; supported a theory of global cultural relations.


Works: Die Megalithen SO-Asiens, 1928; Urheimat und früheste Wanderung der Austronesier, 1932. - Edition: Gesammelte Schriften, 13 vols., 1976-1999.
