Hecht, Robert, b. Vienna, March 9, 1881, d. Dachau concentration camp (Germany), May 30, 1938, civil servant, legal expert, 1925 head of department in the Ministry of Armed Forces. As legal adviser to C. Vaugoin and E. Dollfuß played an important role in the development of the legislative apparatus underlying the authoritarian corporative state (made use of the Wartime Enabling Act of 1917 to rationalize the Creditbank (Creditanstalt) 1932, constitution 1934); 1938 arrested and deported to the Dachau concentration camp in the first convoy.
