Guggenmoos, Gotthard


Guggenmoos, Gotthard, b. Stötten/Auerberg (Germany), May 5, 1775, d. Hallein (Province of Salzburg), Jan. 29, 1838, private teacher, from 1812 worked with children suffering from impaired hearing and speech impediments, in 1829 opened in Salzburg the first school for the mentally impaired in German-speaking countries. despite enormous success this had to be closed in 1835 for financial reasons.
