Countess Charlotte Fuchs, painting

Fuchs, Countess Charlotte; (real name: Maria Karoline, née Mollard), b. Vienna, Jan. 14, 1681, d. Vienna, April 27, 1754, governess with Empress Elisabeth Christine (wife of Emperor Karl VI). Also senior governess to Maria Theresia, became a close friend and also enjoyed her confidence to a high degree ("my clever one"). It was Maria Theresia's wish that F. be buried in the Capuchin Crypt although she was not a member of the Habsburg dynasty. Her small palace in Rodaun was later home to H. v. Hofmannsthal and M. Grengg. Today it houses a museum.
