Czibulka, Baron Alfons von (pseudonym: A. von Birnitz), b. Schloss Radboř near Kořenice, Czech Republic (then Korschenitz), June 28, 1888, d. Munich (Germany), Oct. 22, 1969. Officer and writer, moved to Munich in 1918. C. wrote mostly historical novels and tales about pre-republican Austria.


Works: Die Handschuhe der Kaiserin, 1931; Der Henker von Bernau, 1937; Das Abschiedskonzert, 1944 (novel about J. Haydn); Die Brautfahrt nach Ungarn, 1953; Reich mir die Hand, mein Leben, 1956 (novel about W. A. Mozart); Der Tanz ums Leben, 1958; Prinz Eugen, Retter des Abendlandes, 1958.
