Bilger-Biljan, MariaBilger-Biljan, Maria, b. Radstadt (Salzburg), Jan. 21, 1912, d. Munich (Germany), May 1, 1997, ceramics and textiles artist and sculptress. Co-founder of the Vienna Art Club; 1978-1982 professor of ceramics at the Hochschule für angewandte Kunst (now University of Applied Arts) in Vienna. Her works are characterised by elements of the folk cultures of southern and eastern Europe. Works: fountains and reliefs for municipal buildings, mosaics for the Wiener Stadthalle. Literature: M.
