Vienna, Jan. 4, 1981, entrepreneur, great grand-son of Adolf Ignaz Mautner, second cousin of Georg Mautner Markhof. Head of the family business of Mautner Markhof (Mautner Markhof AG), held numerous functions in the field of economics policy. 1950 to 1970 Chairman of the Industry Section of the Federal Chamber of Commerce, 1946 to 1972 Vice-President of the Federation of Austrian Industrialists. 1983-1999 member of the Bundesrat. Influenced Austrian cultural policies; President of the Vienna Konzerthausgesellschaft and friends with many artists (including K. Böhm, F. Hochwälder.). Literature: NDB.
