Kottanerin, Helene


Kottanerin, Helene, b. Sopron, Hungary (then Ödenburg), around 1400, d. after 1470, from 1436 lady's maid of Elisabeth, wife and later widow of king Albrecht II (Albrecht V), stole the Hungarian crown from Visegrad Castle (Plintenburg) for the coronation of Ladislaus Postumus. The event is described by Gustav Freytag in "Bilder aus der deutschen Vergangenheit" ("Pictures from the German Past", part 1, 31861).
