Geymüller, Baron Johann Heinrich von, b. Basle (Switzerland), May 17, 1754, d. Vienna, April 1, 1824; banker. Played a significant role in raising the sums demanded by Napoleon as war contributions in 1805 and 1809, co-founder of the Oestereichische Nationalbank (Austrian National Bank). Geymüller palace was a gathering place for high society; here F. Grillparzer met his fiancée K. Fröhlich.
