Zimmermann, Josef AndreasZimmermann, Josef Andreas, b. Sighisoara, Rumania (then Schäßburg), Dec. 2, 1810, d. Sibiu, Rumania (then Hermannstadt), May 18, 1897, law scholar and theologian. Worked at the Ministry of Cultural and Educational Affairs in Vienna from 1850, 1861 chairman of the Protestant superior council for both the Augsburg and Helvetic confessions and its president from 1867 to 1874; contributed to the drafting of the constitution of the church and to the organisation of the Protestant Church during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
