Zernatto, Guido, b. Treffen (Carinthia), June 21, 1903, d. New York (USA), Feb. 8, 1943, writer and politician of the Fatherland Front (Vaterländische Front, VF), uncle of Christof Zernatto; 1929 secretary of the national section of the reactionary "Heimatschutz", 1930/1931 secretary of the reactionary "Heimatblock", from May 1936 state secretary in the Federal Chancellery and Secretary General of the "Fatherland Front", from Feb. 1938 Federal Minister without Portfolio. Conducted negotiations with the National Socialists from 1936 to 1938. Fled to France in 1938, to the USA in 1940. 1941 Assistant Professor of Political Sciences at Fordham University. Wrote poetry and novels.
