VeneterVeneti, name of several peoples of pre-Roman times. Of importance for the Austrian territory were the Veneti who settled in the eastern part of upper Italy, and whose special alphabet and language have been discovered (5th - 1st century B.C.). Inscriptions in Austria were found on Gurina Mountain, at Missoria-Alpe near Würmlach and at Findenig-Thörl.
