Takács, Jenö, b. Siegendorf (Burgenland), Sept. 25, 1902, composer, pianist. 1927-1932 taught in Cairo (studied non-European music); 1942-1948 at the conservatoire in Pecs; 1952-1970 taught at Cincinnati University. Combines contemporary tonality with folk music (esp. Hungarian) elements.


Further works: ballets: Nilusi Legenda - Ägyptische Liebeslegende, 1940; The Songs of Silence, 1967. - Piano music: Von Nah und Fern, 1983. - Vocal music, orchestral works, chamber music.
