Steirisches Hügelland


Styrian Hills, comprises the West and East Styrian Hills, with the Grazer Feld- and Leibnitzer Feld Plains in-between. The area is drained by the Rivers Mur and Raab and their tributaries and limited by the Koralpe Mountain in the west, the Graz hill country and the Joglland in the north, the Poßruck Mountains and the Murtal valley between Spielfeld and Radkersburg in the south; in the east, the Styrian Hills are adjacent to southern Burgenland. The area is densely populated and has fertile soil, which is used for growing cereals, wine, sugar beets and other crops, as well as for fruit cultivation. Maize is grown in the Sulmtal valley; pig and poultry breeding; sub-bituminous coal, metal, electric, glass, and wood industry, brickworks.
