Schwarzes Kreuz, Österreichisches, ÖSK, ("Black Cross") association dedicated to the care of war graves. This organisation was founded in 1919 in order to set up, maintain and care for the graves of soldiers of any nation, as well as the graves of civil victims of aerial bombing, victims of persecution and refugees. Finance for activities comes almost exclusively from donations (All Saints collection every year). The ÖSK cares for 413 cemeteries in Austria including around 241,000 graves. War cemeteries in Italy, Croatia (Istria), Slovenia, Poland, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Albania and other countries are cared for in co-operation with local offices.
