Schrack, Eduard


Schrack, Eduard, b. Vienna, Oct. 6, 1889, d. Vienna, Sept. 30, 1979, industrialist, regarded as the founder of the Austrian radio industry; father of Eduard Harald Schrack. In 1919 established a factory for the production of radio tubes in Vienna, which he was soon able to expand. In 1939 he acquired shares in Ericsson Österreich Elektrizitäts AG, which became Schrack Elektrizitäts AG in 1948. The company produced telephones, switch boards, distribution systems, safety switches and circuit breakers. The firm Ericsson Austria AG developed out of Schrack Elektrizitäts AG.
