Schatzkammer


Treasury, Secular and Sacred: both located in the Hofburg Palace (Schweizerhof) and administered by the Vienna Museum of Art History. It also contains the oldest and most important historical collection in Austria, including the Imperial insignia of the Holy Roman Empire, the insignia of the House of Habsburg (after 1804 the insignia of Imperial Austria) and treasures such as the Order of the Golden Fleece and the Burgundian collection of ecclesiastical vestments. The sacred treasury includes ecclesiastical vestments and objects used during Holy Mass in the Hofburg chapel as well as the Habsburg treasures of the Capuchin church; objects used during Holy Mass, holy relics and vestments from the 12th century onward have also been included since 1922.
