Samhaber, Edward Eduard MathiasSamhaber, Edward (Eduard Mathias), b. Freistadt (Upper Austria), Dec. 26, 1846, d. Linz (Upper Austria), March 27, 1927, literary historian, poet and playwright. Grammar school teacher in Freistadt and Ljubljana, 1888-1904 worked at the teachers´ training college in Linz, after his retirement free-lance writer. His poetic works evinced formal perfection, adaptations of Old High German and Middle High German texts (Walther von der Vogelweide, 1882). Further works: poetic works: Dichtungen, 1887; Lyr.
