Reilly, Franz Johann Josef vonReilly, Franz Johann Josef von, b. Vienna, Aug. 18, 1766, d. Vienna, July 6, 1820, publicist, epigrammatist, geographer, bookseller and art dealer. 1792 founded the "Geographische Komptoir"; his "Großer deutscher Atlas" (1794-1796) was the first completed Austrian world atlas, his "Allgemeiner Postatlas" (1799) the first work of its kind in the world. As a writer R. was mainly known for his "Sinngedichte" and his poetical major work "Noradin" (1813), often wrongly attributed to J. J. Polt. Literature: ÖBL.
