Reformationsfest

Reformation Day, celebrated by Protestants since 1617 in commemoration of the day (October 31, 1517) when Martin Luther posted his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the church in Wittenberg, which is regarded by Protestants as the beginning of the Reformation (Reformation); particularly since 1817 an expression of Protestant self-confidence. In Austria, Reformation Day is a legal holiday for members of the Protestant churches.
