Rapf, Kurt


Rapf, Kurt, b. Vienna, Feb. 15, 1922 composer, conductor, pianist. Founder of the Collegium Musicum Vienna in 1945, one of the most important ensembles for old music after World War II. 1953-1960 musical director of the City of Innsbruck, 1970-1987 musical adviser to the City of Vienna, 1970-1983 president of the Austrian Society of Composers (Komponistenbund). Founded the Wiener Sinfonietta chamber orchestra in 1986; numerous tours abroad, recordings and awards.


Works: oratorios, symphonies, concertos, chamber music, lieder.
