Rapf, KurtRapf, Kurt, b. Vienna, Feb. 15, 1922 composer, conductor, pianist. Founder of the Collegium Musicum Vienna in 1945, one of the most important ensembles for old music after World War II. 1953-1960 musical director of the City of Innsbruck, 1970-1987 musical adviser to the City of Vienna, 1970-1983 president of the Austrian Society of Composers (Komponistenbund). Founded the Wiener Sinfonietta chamber orchestra in 1986; numerous tours abroad, recordings and awards. Works: oratorios, symphonies, concertos, chamber music, lieder.
