Planyavsky, Peter


Planyavsky, Peter, b. Vienna, May 9, 1947, organist, composer, church musician; son of Alfred Planyavsky. Since 1969 organist at St. Stephen´s Cathedral in Vienna (1983-1990 music director there), since 1980 has taught at the Vienna Musikhochschule* (first university professor for organ music, improvisation and liturgical organ music, since 1996 head of the department of church music.) Apart from his church music, also known for his musical parodies.


Works: Organ works, masses and other church music, instrumental works, singspiels ("Hochzeit in Kana", church opera, 1998). -. Parodies: Der zufriedengestellte Autobus, 1985; Die Schaffnerin aus Liebe, 1987; Ankunftssymphonie, 1987.
