PitztalPitz Valley, Tirol, southern side valley of the Upper Inn Valley, between Ötz and Kauner valleys, drained by the Pitze river; agriculture, tourism. West of the upper course of the River Pitze, small lake (Rifflsee, alt. 2,232 m), the uppermost section of the river is called Gries (waterfall); Pitztal underground funicular from Mittelberg (alt. 1,736 m) to Mittelbergferner mountain, where the River Pitze rises; average rate of flow 2.7 m3/sec. (St. Leonhard im Pitztal). Important villages: Plangeross (alt. 1,612 m), St. Leonhard im Pitztal (alt. 1,366 m), Arzl im Pitztal (alt. 880 m).
