Pisk, Paul Amadeus


Pisk, Paul Amadeus, b. Vienna, May 16, 1893, d. Los Angeles (USA), Jan. 12, 1990, composer and musicologist. 1920-1928 co-editor of the music magazine "Musikblätter des Anbruchs", 1921-1934 music editor of the newspaper "Arbeiterzeitung", 1925 prize for composition awarded by the city of Vienna. 1936 P. emigrated to the USA, where from 1937-1972 he worked as a professor at various universities.


Works: Der große Regenmacher, 1931 (scenic ballet); Schattenseite, 1931 (monodrama). - Orchestral works, chamber music, songs, choral works.
