Mittelgebirge


Mittelgebirge Mountains (Tiroler Mittelgebirge), low mountain-range, terraces of the Tirol Inn Valley formed during the Ice Age, towering about 100-500 m above the valley floor; especially around Innsbruck. In the southern part of the Mittelgebirge in the Upper Inn Valley are the villages of Oberperfuß, Grinzens, Axams, Birgitz, Götzens, Natters and Mutters, in the municipal area of Innsbruck: Vill and Igls (with the Patscherkofel cableway) and in the Lower Inn Valley: Lans with Lake Lans, Sistrans, Aldrans, Ampaß, Rinn, Tulfes, etc. In the lower northern part of the Mittelgebirge in Innsbruck: Hungerburg suburbs (Nordkette (part of the Karwendel mountains in the north of Innsbruck) cable railway at ground level), Mühlau and Arzl, east of the town centre: Rum, Thaur, Absam, etc.
