Latour, Count Theodor Baillet von (also Baillet-Latour), b. Linz (Upper Austria), June 15, 1780, d. Vienna Oct. 6, 1848 (murdered), officer and politician. In April 1848 as Minister of War sole right-wing extremist in the constitutional government. Supported the actions of the Croat J. Jellačić and wanted to send a battalion from Vienna to Hungary to suppress riots. Was lynched as a result and the October Revolution 1848 broke out Oktoberrevolution.
