Kurz, Selma (married name Halban), b. Bielsko Biala, Czech Republic (then Bielitz), Oct. 15, 1874, d. Vienna, May 10, 1933, singer. Popular coloratura soprano engaged for the Vienna Court Opera (Hofoper) by G. Mahler, where she stayed until 1929. Sang at Covent Garden, London (1904-1907 and 1924). First "Zerbinetta" in R. Strauß´ "Ariadne auf Naxos". Recordings.
