Kuh, Anton (pseudonym: Yorick), b. Vienna, July 12, 1890, d. New York (USA), Jan. 18, 1941, narrative writer, essayist, feuilletonist. Lived in Vienna, Prague and until 1933 in Berlin, fled to the USA in 1938. Wrote brilliant short prose, outstanding rhetorician, published satirical and critical commentaries on current affairs. Rediscovered in the 1960s.


Works: Essays and short prose: Juden und Deutsche, 1921; Von Goethe abwärts, 1922; Der Affe Zarathustras, 1925 (polemic work against K. Kraus); Der unsterbliche Österreicher, 1930; Nebbich im Glück, 1987. Editions of selected works: Luftlinien, 1981; Zeitgeist im Literatur-Café, 1983.
