Judendorf-StraßengelJudendorf-Straßengel, Styria, market town in the district of Graz-Umgebung, alt. 385 m, pop. 4,301 (1981: 3,729), area 10.60 km2, residential suburb north of Graz on the right bank of the River Mur/Mura, northwest of the Plabutsch Tunnel. - Clinic for internal illnesses; chemical plant, punching tool factory, tourism (23,774 overnight stays). - Documented mention as "Strazinolum" in 860; Gothic pilgrimage church (1346-1355), important High Gothic structure, formerly surrounded by fortified walls, three-storey tower (1355-1366) with elaborate stonemasonry, Gothic stained-glass windows (77 sections in all, 14th century), neo-Gothic high altar (1885) made of white marble. Nearby: Plankenwarth Castle.
