Innsbruck (Tyrol), Dec. 10, 1891, Benedictine, historian, 1846 professor at the university of Innsbruck, 1851 professor at the university of Vienna. Initiated the foundation of the Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung (Institute of Austrian History Research), first chairman of that institute from 1854-1869, member of the Reichsrat from 1867-1871.
