Cobenzl, Count Johann Philipp, b. Ljubljana, Slovenia (then Laibach), May 28, 1741, d. Vienna, Aug. 30, 1810, statesman, cousin of Count Johann Ludwig Cobenzl, and companion of Joseph II. in France, 1779 State Vice Chancellor, successor to W. Kaunitz in the office of Court Chancellor and Vice Chancellor (1792) and Foreign Minister; dismissed in 1793 following failures during the 2nd division of Poland. 1802-1805 envoy to France.
