AlemannenAlemanni, western Germanic tribe settled on the Roman Limes between the Rhine and Danube in the 2nd-3rd centuries, spread to the south (Switzerland, Vorarlberg) around 500, Christianised under Franconian influence from 600, formed the duchy of Swabia from the 10th century.
