The first Chambers of Veterinary Medicine were founded in 1938, but from 1945 to 1949 there was only an Association for Veterinary Medicine; chambers were re-established as statutory professional organisations by the Veterinary Medicine Act. Each of the 9 provinces has its own Chamber of Veterinary Medicine, which are supervised by the provincial government. The Federal Chamber of Veterinary Medicine has its headquarters in Vienna and is subject to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Chambers.
