Thimig, HermannThimig, Hermann, b. Vienna, Oct. 3, 1890, d. Vienna, July 7, 1982, actor, Kammerschauspieler, eldest son of Hugo Thimig, brother of Helene Thimig-Reinhardt and Hans Thimig, husband of V. Degischer. From1911-1914 in Meiningen, 1916-1932 worked with M. Reinhardt in Berlin and Vienna (Theater in der Josefstadt); from 1925 participated regularly in the Salzburg Festival; 1934-1968 at the Burgtheater (1965 honorary member); excellent comedian; famous for the dynamic creative power upon which his performances were based, and for his artistic use of language (Truffaldino in Goldoni´s "Master of Two Servants", parts in plays by Nestroy and Raimund); acted in films; many awards.
