Teilungen der österreichischen Länder

Austrian Lands, Division of: In 1194, the Babenberg dukes Friedrich I and Leopold VI divided the patrimonial lands of their father, Leopold V: Friedrich inherited the Archduchy of Austria, and Leopold received Styria. The Austrian lands were again divided by the Habsburgs in 1379 by the Neuberger Teilungsvertrag (the Inner-Austrian lands were again divided later) and in 1564 by the Ferdinandeische Hausordnung. The series of divisions came to a halt in 1665, when further division of the Austrian lands was prohibited under the Pragmatic Sanction.
