Technologisches Gewerbemuseum

Technologisches Gewerbemuseum (Höhere technische Bundes-Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt Wien 20, Technological Grammar School), founded in 1879 at the suggestion of W. Exner in order to promote the technical aspects of the trades, called Technologisches Gewerbemuseum since 1888, nationalised in 1905 (Zentrallehranstalt). The opening of research institutes (currently 11) and the "Museum of History of Austrian Labour" (University of Technology, Vienna, Vienna Museum of Technology) as well as the continuous adaptation of teaching and scientific contents to progress in technology (currently 11 advanced-level schools, 3 colleges and several courses) have made the Technisches Gewerbemuseum one of the largest and leading schools in Austria.
